NEW AFTER SCHOOL SESSIONS for SOUTH HAMS PLAYERS SPRING 2019
Thanks to a generous grant from Harberton Community Benefit fund, Dashing Devon Dukes are able to make use of Moreleigh Village Hall on Monday afternoons between 15.30 and 18.00pm.
Moreleigh Village Hall, situated in the heart of the South Hams between Kingsbridge and Totnes, has superb facilities as well as ample parking. Acoustics in the Hall are excellent, having been improved through the recent addition of ceiling baffles. There is also a good Childrens play area adjacent to the Hall, which could be used by younger family members waiting…
The first session will run from 15.30 to 16.15pm, and will suit Junior players ( aged 7 or older) who have already learnt some basic techniques, and who would like to get together with other players to learn even more.
The second session (16.45 to 17.30pm) is aimed at players who have been playing for some time, who know their chords and afew rhythm techniques. Guitars and other stringed instruments such as violins and ‘cellos are also invited to be part of the mix.
Although the fretted instruments (ukuleles and guitars) will play chord accompaniments for the songs played, classical instruments could use musical notation for the songs, as the keys used will be appropriate for novice players ( Associated Board Grade I, II & III).
Cost of these sessions will be kept to a minimum so that it should allow as many youngsters who wish to be part of the Band to have a try, and see how they enjoy the experience.
Junior Sessions: £3.00 per child per session (50% reduction for sibling)
Senior Sessions: £5.00 per child per session
These after school sessions at Moreleigh Village Hall are a new initiative for the children of the South Hams primary schools within a 6 mile radius of Moreleigh. Hall rental is funded for 12 week trial period, and if there is a positive uptake, a further 12 weeks could be awarded, which would take the Dashing Devon Dukes up to the end of the summer term 2019.
