Last Saturday morning, the Charitable Ladies of Stoke Fleming very kindly hosted a Christmas Fair at Stoke Fleming Village, to support the Dashing Devon Dukes! There were a multitude of Craft Tables on display, as well as a wonderful selection of home-made refreshments to be enjoyed..
12 members of the band managed to assemble at 10,15am, and get themselves prepared for a 25 minute performance of their newer songs, as well as many of the favourites that they remembered from last year. There were two young guitarists, Amelie and Mikey, joining forces with eight young ukulele strummers, as well as Max who played a Bass ukulele. There were also two very young additional members who plucked up courage and took part (with ukuleles) in the performance, as well as an even younger sibling who gleefully shook bells in time to the chorus of Jingle Bells.
The finale was a rendition of the Evergreen Merry Christmas Everybody, which gave the Band a huge lift to see so many smiling faces, and foot tapping grannies enjoying the swing and syncopation of the perfect Christmas hit..
Members of the band from Stoke Fleming Primary had had a warm up gig the previous Thursday at Stoke Lodge Hotel, where they entertained the folk at the Christmas Fair raising funds for St Peters Church.
